Job Opportuntity: Researcher/Librarian Sydney

An exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced Research Librarian to join our well established Sydney Office. As a member of a high performing global team, the Research Librarian is responsible for providing reference and research library services to lawyers, paralegals and support staff on a Firm-wide basis. This is a full time position reporting to the Director of Firm Research & Library Services and the Australian Director of Operations.

The responsibilities of this role include the following:
  • delivering high quality legal and business research services to the Firm;
  • performing in-depth and complex business and legal reference and research duties, including responding to user requests for information from internal and external resources, onsite and offsite materials, and print and non-print media on legal, business and general topics;
  • ensuring that lawyers are kept up to date on all legal and business development relevant to the practice groups and their clients;
  • being the first point of contact for the Australian and Asia offices;
  • performing all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work product and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will:
  • have demonstrated work experience performing online searches using external databases and services including, but not limited to: Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, MergerMarket, Capital IQ, Connect14, D&B Hoovers, PitchBook, etc.
  • hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in library and information services/management
  • have a minimum of two - four years of law firm library experience
  • display a commitment toward continual learning and development
  • have advanced communication skills and the ability to produce clear and logical written work
  • be pragmatic and able to work to tight deadlines
  • work effectively both on an autonomous basis and as part a team

This position joins the global Research and Library team while sitting with and working closely with the supportive and collaborative Sydney office administration and management team.
